The Department of Digital History Education is the new department of the Center for Digital Geographical Education in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki founded in 2018. Its aim is to promote the use of ICT in history education. Partnership with the Center for Digital Geographical Education was decided in order to formalize the interdisciplinary cooperation of history and geography through technology.
The Department of Digital History Education aims at:
– Adjusting existing digital tools for use in the history classroom,
– Creating digital material and appropriate digital environments for history education at primary and secondary level,
– Diffusing digital knowledge regarding history at lesson design and practice,
– Giving expert advice and conducting informational events on digital history education,
– Conducting primary research in the area of digital history education,
– Educating teachers on matters of history education with the use of ICT and learning educational software for history education,
– Training undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Primary Education Department of the School of Education of Aristotle University in teaching history with ICT,
– Cooperating with the other departments of the Center for Digital Geographical Education in order to create digital educational material for primary and secondary education.
The Department of Digital History Education addresses teachers teaching both at primary and secondary level as well as students of History and Education Departments.
